Ascendo coffee is a San Luis Obispo coffee shop. We started with the idea that we could make the world a better place by participating in our community through business. This idea is still the heart of our vision. We are truly humbled by all the beautiful relationships we have formed in our community.

We fell down the rabbit whole of roasting coffee in 2014 and haven’t looked back since. It is the cornerstone of our passion for coffee. We have spent countless hours experimenting with roast profiling and rebuilding and modifying our roasters. We have become very confident in our ability to roast specialty coffee consistently well.

In 2015, we moved from our tiny hole in the wall to a 2800 sq ft building two doors down from our original shop. With the help of some friends and family, we did all of the construction ourselves. It was an amazing and humbling experience to build something from the ground up with the help of the community we helped bring together.

In 2017, we changed our name to Ascendo Coffee. Ascendo Coffee! Same people, same values, same coffee! Ascendo means “I rise” in latin. The whole of our journey can be described by rising from the very little we had at the beginning. We couldn’t get up every morning without our coffee.
